Introduction to Research Data Management
The training session on Introduction to Research Data Management (RDM) will provide an overview of the importance of managing research data effectively throughout the research lifecycle. The session will highlight how proper data organisation, documentation, storage, and preservation ensure that research data remains accurate, secure, and accessible.
Participants will be introduced to key concepts of RDM, including the different types of research data, the stages of the research data lifecycle, and the importance of planning for data management at the beginning of a research project. The session will also emphasise the benefits of good RDM practices, such as improving research transparency, supporting collaboration, enabling data sharing and reuse, and complying with institutional and funder requirements.
Overall, this session aims to raise awareness of responsible data management practices and to equip participants with foundational knowledge to manage their research data effectively.
