The Allan Gray Community Engagement Rep, with the help of the other Community Engagement Reps in the Hall, pulled off a fun and meaningful Fashion Show and Pageant for Noncedo Pre-School, our community partner. There was a lot of planning behind the scenes, and the event brought joy to both students and community members. It reminded us that engagement can be creative, collaborative, and deeply fulfilling. This was a fundraising initiative to raise funds to purchase paint for Noncedo.
On the 16th of May, Drosty Hall hosted its first hall academic talk for the year. The purpose of this talk was to advise and equip our first years on the difficulties and pressures that come with exam season.
We had Milani Mgaga, a postgraduate from Celeste House, speak on how to tackle exam pressures as well as how he managed during his undergraduate studies. We also had Christabel Makuba from Prince Alfred speak on the practicality of an examination here at Rhodes, and an overview of the rules and regulations. She touched on how people can use this to study for the upcoming exams.
